Discussion regarding DGS money

I was told (cajoled into) by Dolbu the Daru to open up a discussion on whether or not we should nerf DGS money. There are arguments pros and cons and he was wondering where the playerbase stood in that regard and if they felt strongly one way or another.

For information, in this version, DGS have the following characteristics*:
-Three of them spawn. One in the eastern Ocean, way south of Exeloch, one west of Marcala/Heedmar and another north of Ynystere/south of Freedich.
-They currently pay 3k gold, split in 30 packs, if memory serves. The packs can be turned at any turn-in that accepts Abyssal Gold (Freed, DS, GG, 2C and Austera).

Debate away.

*: I could be wrong, I haven't tested or played this patch in a while so I'm going by memory. Corrections are welcome.

If it's not freefarm then the players that kill a DGS would make much more gold doing basically anything else.

Should leave it at 3k and let it be a good reward when guilds that spend thousands on galleons actually kill it. I think it's going to be a while before any guild has it on farm, when that happens maybe nerf it.

Exeloch DGS is a complete waste of time. Sailing to it, killing it, sailing to Freedich. Don't think it's worth anyone's time no matter if nerfed or buffed, remove it i'd say.

As for Yny and Marcala DGS, in this patch they dont despawn and their respawn timer is 12h if memory serves. So one for NA one for EU, technically. Thats good.

As for rewards, this is the main naval pvp content for me personally (Abyssal will probably happen too late for EU and Luscas are just boring). If you nerf it people will have less reasons to show up for it. I would even say buff it. What else will people do anyway when they are done with Hasla and Auroria is locked? If DGS will yield like 15g per person then majority of people will just prefer coinpurses. No effort, no risk, less time wasted.

i also agree that it should be kept at 3k, sure it is maybe too much gold if you funnel into one resource at once, but then again you can literally funnel gold incomes from all kinds of activities so there's nothing preventing people from funneling.

Its always the same, if you want ppl to show up for it buff it to the point where its the best time/labor/reward ratio otherwise ppl wont care. I would say buff them according to location. If u want ppl to care about exeloch make it 10k, heedmar like 5 and yny 4 or so. Alternatively put some unique items or upgradematerials etc. on the loottable so that ppl have to fight over them to get an advantage instead of sitting on their farms enjoying their comparable or better time/labor/reward ratios. PvP in a PvP focussed korean grinder should always net you the best reward/progress for your time otherwise you incentivise ppl to afk sit on their farms.

Don't nerf em or remove any of them, it's a PvP event in a PvP game, reward should be good or people will just ignore them just like it happened on legacy. it'll be a while before peeps got the boats and gear to kill em, even longer to freefarm them uncontested, meaning the gold from it won't be an insane injection into people's/guilds' pockets. IMO leave it default for a few months, see if people contest it or if one guild freefarms it uncontested, then maybe consider nerfing

I agree, I don't think any changes are needed. I also find DGS to be easily contestable and shouldn't be an issue at the start of a server, especially with the number of players most likely to fight for this.

DGS /sea contents were risks in this versions. If 1-2 guild have "time advantage" and they can kill DGS without competition in early game that server will fail in start. (we had this type of server in 2.0-2.9 maybe. 1 guild got huge gear advantage because of free money. They worked with other big guild to monopolize DGS and kraken kill. Nobody can killed them later. ).

But good luck! We will do same things over and over and over again... thinking.... it will change . :)

That's not exclusively because of DGS. That's just how these patches work, you can't prevent people from playing with each other.

Most geared players want to join guilds with geared members, most guilds with geared members will only accept geared players. Same reason why most player nations created during these patches had all the geared players.

That's one of the flaws of these patches that XL Games attempted to fix by making most content faction based instead of guild based but indirectly made the game incredibly boring.

This is not stronger players group up than kill the server. This is 1 or 2 guild rush "Best" income or gear to break server in early game. 3000 golds (no labor costs?) while others get 2-4 silver/labor is game breaker.

Just move DGS content to Auroria "patch" time!

3k might sound like alot, but if you have a small crew of like 15 people to do it (not sure how many you need at a minimum, been a long ass time) that's 200 gold per person. You also have to build a galleon, which isn't cheap, and you lose 100% of each pack that gets stolen if you get pirated.
And in the time it takes to do that DGS from grouping up to turning in packs, you can probably make more money doing trade packs in peaceful zones, especially if the kill does not go smoothly, or you wait for someone, ect.

Sure. Because clippers can compete early upgraded battleship. The problem is EARLY big reward. Gilda and materials will be bottlenecks in first days. IF more guilds rush warship than it should be fine. If 1 will get it faster or fastest guilds coop in first days they can get "unfair advantages" vs others.

you need a galleon to do DGS not to contest it. You can clipper out or swim out and jump on board the galleon doing DGS, or even pick off people let them kill the DGS and fight over the packs.
Even if you need a galleon if you have a guild illegal planting/running enough packs to freed to feed someone gilda for a galleon its easy

Honestly seems like you are complaining about content in a game that you have never done/contested.

So... you don't have warship, but you will instant hire 20-30 (or more) players and you travel 15-20 milutes to kill MAYBE others who already grouped and bufefd up and who started to kill DGS. It sounds you are a "pro" player... Or just you want broken uncontested reward in early game.

Fine as is but should be nerfed the first few weeks. But like abyssal attack, I think once any guild begins consistently free farming it should be looked at.

Or you just travel before they have spawned? If they have 2 boats they would be split forces already? buffed for freefarm dgs? also hired players what are you even talking about? If they need 50 players for DGS then the reward is already so minimalized.
